The Bellevue Club serves its community well by coordinating a basketball league among public-housing Clubs. Youth come to the games excited about playing their favorite sports. Soon they learn that in order to play, they must participate in the Power Hour program before each practice and maintain good academic standing in their schools. The Club’s area director not only is coaching the league; he also is inspiring the youth to see how the lessons of teamwork, discipline and hard work can benefit them throughout their lives.

The Club was able to secure a sponsor for the team that agreed to provide uniforms and awards for each team member. Now that youth are attired uniformly, they feel pride in their team and their contributions to the group. Team members are aware that they may not become professional basketball players, but they will become better men because of their participation in the Club-sponsored league. The lessons they learn today will be lessons they pass on to their own sons in the future.
