Check with your local Club to inquire about or request courses in English as a Second Language (ESL), GED preparation, adult literacy or technology and computer instruction. Many Clubs offer these programs free as a service to parents, so check before you enroll in another program.

ESL Courses
As the foreign-born population in the U.S. grows, so do the opportunities for learning English. There are numerous adult-education ESL classes that meet evenings or weekends, and these typically are offered by community centers, public libraries or community colleges. There also are more intensive classes offered by colleges and universities, as well as English classes for international college students. These resources can help you find the right type of ESL course in your area:

GED Preparation
GED preparation classes frequently are offered at local high schools, community centers, public libraries or community colleges. There also are several good online courses available. Check out Excel High School for more information.

Literacy Classes
Literacy education often is provided at local high schools, community centers, public libraries or community colleges. A very good place to start is America’s Literacy Directory, which allows you to search for adult literacy programs in your community.
