- What is the best parenting tip you could give to new moms/other parents?
Listen to your children, be patient and tolerant, and put yourself in their shoes.
- How has the Boys & Girls Club helped your family?
They have fed my family, helped during the holidays, been patient with my special needs son, and made me feel like my children are safe. They have been patient with all I have to deal with I feel like I can tell them anything and they are the Club is there to help.
- What is the most challenging aspect of being a parent?
Coping with my sons needs as a single parent, and the financial problems, and not having any kin. I was an only child and my parents are deceased. The Club and AA are my support systems.
- What is the most satisfying element of being a parent?
Seeing your kids smile, be happy, and enjoy life again in spite of our hardships
- What does family mean to you?
Everything. My whole life is based on my kids. Since I did not have a family to rely on I want to be there for my kids.
- What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Keep the kids from having to deal with the adult issues, allowing them to grow, prosper, and just be kids!
- What is your favorite thing to cook?
Lasagna. My son Shaun helps me cook it!
- If you could have any job, anywhere what would it be and why?
It would be to own my own skin and nail salon. I believe if I could further my education with business education to learn that side, I would be able to run a successful business on my own.
- What inspires you?
Living sober and feeling free from the drama and fears from my past marriage excite me about living again and being there for my children.
